Make sure to save the date for the upcoming 2024 Greek Independence Day festivities in Philadelphia! The local Greek community has planned an exciting weekend of celebrations to honor and remember Greece’s hard-won independence.
Honoring the Evzones
You are cordially invited to join us at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby, PA, on April 4, 2024, at 6:00 PM to meet the Hellenic Republic’s Presidential Guards. After the meet and greet session, there will be a reception and dance performance at 7:00 PM. Learn about the history of the Evzones, the world-renowned Presidential Guards of Greece.
Greek Flag Raising Ceremony
Don’t miss the Greek Flag Raising Ceremony in Philadelphia, which will be held on April 5th, 2024, to celebrate Greek Independence. The event will commence outside City Hall’s North Apron at 12:30 PM, followed by the flag-raising ceremony at 1:00 PM. You will be able to witness the ceremonial Evzones who will be in attendance, which will make this celebration even more special.
Eleftheria Medal & Dignitaries Dinner
Join us for the Eleftheria Medal & Dignitaries Dinner, an exclusive event that will be held on April 6, 2024, at Adelphia, Deptford, NJ. This event will honor Anthony Limberakis, MD, and Grand Marshal Philip Christopher. The dinner tickets are priced at $100, with a special student price of $50. Greek Independence Day Parade
We are excited to invite you to celebrate the Greek Independence Day Parade in Philadelphia on April 7, 2024. This event commemorates the 50th anniversary of Cyprus’ occupation (07.20.1974 – 07.20.2024).
