Make sure to save the date for the upcoming 2025 Greek Independence Day festivities in Philadelphia! The local Greek community has planned an exciting weekend of celebrations to honor and remember Greece’s hard-won independence.

Greek Flag Raising Ceremony

Celebrate Greek Independence Day at Philadelphia City Hall on Friday, April 4, at 12:30 PM, and join a proud tradition. Watch the Greek flag rise at 1:00 PM, accompanied by honored guests, including His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey, local officials, and the Greek Presidential Guard (Evzones) in their iconic uniforms.

Eleftheria Gala 2025

Join the Eleftheria Gala on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 5 PM at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown for an unforgettable black-tie celebration of Greek Independence Day. Enjoy a formal dinner, live entertainment, and the prestigious Eleftheria Medal presentation, with special guests including the Evzones and 6abc’s Katie Katro.

Greek Independence Day Parade

Be part of the tradition! On Sunday, April 6, 2025, the Philadelphia Greek Independence Day Parade takes over Benjamin Franklin Parkway in a spectacular celebration of Greek history, culture, and freedom. Enjoy live music, traditional dance, cultural floats, and a special appearance by the Greek Presidential Guard (Evzones).

Post-Parade Celebration

After the parade, join the community at Uptown Beer Garden on April 6, 2025, at 5:00 PM for an evening of food, drinks, and celebration. Hosted by FHAS Young Leaders, this gathering is a perfect way to connect, reflect, and continue the festivities. Admission: $10-$20 for ages 16+, free for children under 16.
