Federation of Hellenic American Societies reveals new date for annual Greek Independence Day celebration

The Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia and Greater Delaware Valley kicked off its fall events this past Tuesday with a meeting at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The focus of the gathering was to announce plans for the annual Greek Independence Day parade in 2024.

The parade date has been set for April 7th next year. Harry Karapalides and John Vasiliou, who were introduced as co-chairs at the meeting, will take charge of preparations for the celebration.

According to Federation representatives, this meeting marked the start of a busy fall season. Over the coming months, the organization will host various activities that honor Greek cultural heritage across the Philadelphia region and surrounding areas.

The Greek Independence Day parade serves as one of the largest such events. By announcing the 2024 date and parade leadership early, the Federation aims to allow plenty of time for organizing and getting community involvement. With Karapalides and Vasiliou at the helm, the Federation expects next year’s parade to be a memorable occasion.
