The Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia and Greater Delaware Valley held their annual elections at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. The event saw the induction of new leadership for the 2023-2024 term.
President Georgia Chletcos was re-elected for a second term, receiving overwhelming support. Joining her are newly elected officers Harry Karapalides as Vice President, Peter Papadeas as Treasurer, Maria Agatsiotis as Recording Secretary, and Zoe Tripolites as Corresponding Secretary.
The Board of Directors will be chaired by Demetrios Rozanitis and include seasoned members John Vasiliou, Ioanna Evangelopoulos, and George Maniatis, as well as new additions Carissa Fafalios, Michael Economou, Artemis Tsingiropoulos, Stefanos Evangelopoulos, and Danny Pithis.
An exciting development was the creation of a “Young Leaders” committee led by Christina Nicolos and Vanessa Constantinidis. This group aims to engage youth, preserve Hellenic heritage, and promote unity within the community. Their upcoming “Poto me Parea” event in June promises to bring young people together to celebrate Greek culture.
In other news, the Greek Night event planned for the Union soccer league has been rescheduled to October to allow for more coordination. John Vasiliou and Harry Karapalides, co-chairs of the Greek Independence Day Parade, thanked the community for their dedication and effort in planning the celebrations and post-parade festivities.
The recent elections have renewed a sense of optimism and passion for promoting Hellenic culture within the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley Greek-American communities. The new leadership team brings expertise, commitment, and a fresh perspective to preserving beloved traditions.
