Hellenic Philharmonic Society band to march in Philadelphia’s Greek Independence Day Parade

Philadelphia, PA – The Hellenic Philharmonic Society band of New York will be marching in Philadelphia this Sunday at the annual Greek Independence Day Parade. With the parade just less than a week away, the Federation of Hellenic-American Societies of Philadelphia and Greater Delaware Valley has announced the late entry will participate at the famed event, along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

The Hellenic Philharmonic Society of New York was established in 1983 by Spiros Svolakos captain of the merchant navy. It was formed in order to provide the Greek Diaspora of America the patriotic sounds associated with Greek national parades and celebrations. For more than thirty years the Hellenic Philharmonic band has operated independently at parades, ceremonies and events around the country. It is the sole and authentic Greek band in the US.
