Philadelphia, PA – On Sunday, March 14, 2021, MEGA Channel, a national Greek TV station, invited four of our own Philadelphia Greeks to their popular weekend morning show “MEGA Savvatokyriako.” Within their “Greeks Abroad” feature: Dimosthenis Giamouridis, Grigorios Peios, and officers of the Federation of the Hellenic American Societies of Greater Philadelphia and Delaware Valley, President Dimitrios Rozanitis, and Vice President Stefanos Evangelopoulos shared their thoughts.

The hosts of the show, Dinos Siomopoulos, and Stella Gkantona, discussed with guests life in Philadelphia amid the coronavirus pandemic and also referred to the Greek diaspora. The segment featured a special musical performance by Giamouridis (bouzouki, vocals) and Peios (guitar). They performed “Mana Mou Ellas” by Xarhakos and Gkatsos.

Following the music, President Rozanitis had the opportunity to provide some interesting background on Greeks in Philadelphia and highlight the upcoming Philadelphia-based celebrations for the Anniversary of 200 Years of the 1821 Greek Revolution. Current and scheduled events can be found at Cosmos Philly.com. The Doxology is scheduled to take place at Evangelismos Tis Theotokou, Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. That will be followed by a Raising of the Greek Flag at Philadelphia City Hall and the Ben Franklin Bridge’s ceremonial lighting.
